Function
- may positively regulate MAP-kinase activity in adipocytes, leading to enhanced adipocyte proliferation & reduced adipocyte differentiation
- may also positively regulate NF-kappa-B activity in macrophages by promoting the phosphorylation & subsequent degradation of I-kappa-B-alpha (NFKBIA), leading to enhanced macrophage
- inflammatory responsiveness (putative)
- can act as a transcriptional repressor (putative)
- interacts with GNG5, NFKBIA, MAPK1, MAPK3 & PTEN
- may interact with calmodulin (putative)
- binds to DNA in vitro (putative)
- phosphorylated by MAPK1 in vitro (putative)
Structure
- belongs to the peptidase M14 family
- protein has lost active site residues & Zn+2-binding sites & so is unlikely to be catalytically active
- contains 1 F5/8 type C domain
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- expressed in osteoblast & visceral fat
