Function

• sulfatase, has arylsulfatase activity
• highly specific endoglucosamine-6-sulfatase activity
• can remove sulfate from C-6 position of glucosamine within specific subregions of intact heparin
• diminishes heparan sulfate proteoglycans sulfation
• inhibits signaling by heparin-dependent growth factors
• diminishes proliferation, & facilitates apoptosis in response to exogenous stimulation
• binds 1 Ca+2 per subunit

• Optimum pH is 7.0-8.0

• down-regulation cell lines derived froms ovarian carcinoma, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, renal cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma
