Function
- regulates cell cycle progression
- stabilizes FBXO5 protein
- promotes cyclin-A accumulation during interphase
- role in cytokinesis (putative)
- interacts with alpha-tubulin, gamma-tubulin, FBXO5, chromosome passenger complex
- down-regulated during mitosis through proteasomal degradation
- depletion of EVI5 by RNAi causes cell cycle arrest & mitotic abnormalities
- phosphorylation by PLK1 (putative) may be required for degradation during mitosis
- ubiquitinated, degradation during prophase is ubiquitin-dependent
Structure
Compartment
- nucleus, centrosome
- associates with the mitotic spindle through anaphase & remains within midzone & midbody until completion of cytokinesis
Expression
- expressed in various cell lines & in a wide range of tissues including brain & adrenal
Pathology
- chromosomal aberration involving EVI5 associated with a case of neuroblastoma, translocation t(1;10)(p22;q21), forms a EVI5-TRNG10 fusion protein; TRNG10 is probable structural transcript, normally not translated
