Introduction

A 56,000 kD oligomer consisting or 12 A-beta chains. Isolated from brains of Tg2756 mice. When injected into brains of young rats, A-beta*56 transiently disrupts spatial memory.

Experiment:

10 uL of 0.85 uM A-beta*56 infused into brains of cannulated young mice. 2 hours later, trained in Morris Water Maze. Saline was infused in control group. No differences in escape latencies between groups. 24 hours later, a second infusion was given & the rats tested in the water maze for spatial memory. The A-beta*56 group showed significant impairment in spatial memory. 10 days later, the experiment was repeated without infusion. There were no differences in training or spatial memory testing.
