• associates with PYK2 in lymphoid cells
• may regulate signaling at sites of adhesion
• phosphorylated on Tyr
• interacts with unphosphorylated ITGA4

Structure

• belongs to the paxillin family
• similar (37% amino acid identity) to focal adhesion protein paxillin
• contains 4 LIM Zn+2-binding domains

• highest expression in lymphoid tissues such as spleen, lymph node, thymus & appendix. lower levels in bone marrow & fetal liver
• also expressed in peripheral blood lymphocytes & a number of hematopoietic cell lines
• very low levels found in epithelial cell lines
