- associates with PYK2 in lymphoid cells
- may regulate signaling at sites of adhesion
- phosphorylated on Tyr
- interacts with unphosphorylated ITGA4
Structure
- belongs to the paxillin family
- similar (37% amino acid identity) to focal adhesion protein paxillin
- contains 4 LIM Zn+2-binding domains
Compartment
Expression
- highest expression in lymphoid tissues such as spleen, lymph node, thymus & appendix. lower levels in bone marrow & fetal liver
- also expressed in peripheral blood lymphocytes & a number of hematopoietic cell lines
- very low levels found in epithelial cell lines
