- involved in spindle formation & movements of chromosomes during mitosis & meiosis
- binds to microtubules & to DNA
- ubiquitinated, mediated by SIAH1 & leading to its subsequent proteasomal degradation (probable)
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
