Pathology
- following vascular injury, platelets rapidly adhere to the exposed endothelium in conjunction with von Willebrand factor (vWF) which serves as a 'glue' connecting subendothelial collagen to platelets via platelet cell surface glycoprotein 1b/V IX receptor complex
Pharmacology
- effects of aspirin on platelets are irreversible
- effects of other NSAIDs on platelets are reversible
