• p51A can induce apoptosis & growth suppression similar to p53

Structure

• homologous to p53, 2 forms: p51A & p51B.

Expression

• p51 mRNA found in skeletal muscle, placenta, mammary gland, prostate, trachea, thymus, salivary gland, uterus, heart & lung

Pathology

• mutations were found in some epidermal carcinomas
