Function
- specific peripheral component of RNA polymerase 3
- role in sensing & limiting infection by intracellular bacteria & DNA viruses
- acts as nuclear & cytosolic DNA sensor involved in innate immune response. can sense non-self dsDNA that serves as template for transcription into dsRNA
- the non-self RNA polymerase 3 transcripts, such as Epstein-Barr virus-encoded RNAs (EBERs) induce type 1 interferon & NF- Kappa-B through the RIG-I pathway (putative)
- interacts with CRCP/RPC9
- POLR3H/RPC8 & CRCP/RPC9 probably form an RNA polymerase 3 subcomplex
Structure
- belongs to the eukaryotic RPB7/RPC8 RNA polymerase subunit family
