Pathology
- the SV40 large T antigen is a multifunctional viral protein derived from Papovaviridae essential for the transforming capacity of SV40 in nonpermissive cells.
- large T antigen appears to function by sequestering Rb & p53 tumor suppressor proteins
- large T antigen is by itself a DNA-binding protein & can regulate both transcription & replication
- phosphorylation by casein kinase 2 enhances cytoplasmic to nuclear translocation of SV40 large T
