blood group H antigen (type O)

Introduction

Blood group O antigen & substrate for blood group A antigen & blood group B antigen synthesis. Formed by action of fucosyltransferase. Present on erythrocytes of all individuals except those with the Bombay phenotype. The amount of H antigen on erythrocytes of specfic blood types in order of diminishing quantity: O > A2B > B > A1 > A1B.
