Function
- may facilitate ATP-independent bidirectional transbilayer migration of phospholipids upon binding Ca+2, resulting in a loss of phospholipid asymmetry in the plasma membrane
- role in the initiation of fibrin clot formation (putative)
- role in activation of mast cells (putative)
- role in recognition of apoptotic & injured cells by the reticuloendothelial system (putative)
- interacts with PDCD6 (Ca+2-dependent)
Structure
- belongs to the phospholipid scramblase family
Compartment
- membrane; single-pass type 2 membrane protein (putative)
Expression
- expressed in heart, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, pancreas, spleen, thymus, prostate, uterus, small intestine & peripheral blood lymphocytes
- not expressed in testis, brain & liver
