• binds to many protein, usually by recognition of a phospho-Ser or phospho-Thr motif

• abundantly expressed in brain, heart & pancreas, & at lower levels in kidney & placenta

Pathology

• up-regulated in the lumbar spinal cord from patients with sporadic amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; highest expression in patients with predominant lower motor neuron involvement
