Function
- acts with TAL1/SCL to regulate red blood cell development
- also acts with LDB1 to maintain erythroid precursors in an immature state
- interacts via its LIM domains with ELF2 & LBD1
- also interacts with basic helix-loop-helix protein TAL1/SCL & can assemble in a complex with LMO2 & TAL1/SCL (putative)
- interacts with BEX2 & KDM5A
Structure
- the second LIM Zn+2-binding domain interacts with KDM5A
- contains 2 LIM Zn+2-binding domains
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Pathology
- chromosomal translocation t(11;14)(p13;q11) involving LMO2 with TCRD may be a cause of a form of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL)
