Function
- role in autophagy
- may regulate trafficking of proteins involved in the mannose-6-phosphate receptor (MPR) recycling pathway.
- interacts with androgen receptor & estrogen receptor
- binds PtdIns3P & to a lesser extent, PtdIns3,5P2 & PtdIns5P in vitro
- interaction with PtdIns3P is required for recruitment to membranes
Structure
contains 3 WD repeats
Compartment
- trans elements of Golgi & peripheral endosomes
- dynamically cycles through these compartments
- enriched in clathrin-coated vesicles
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=2
Expression
- ubiquitously expressed
- highly expressed in skeletal muscle, heart, testis, pancreas, placenta
Pathology
- up-regulated in a variety of tumor tissues
