Function
- hydrolyzes ester bond at the sn-1 position of glycerophospholipids & produces 2-acyl lysophospholipids
- hydrolyzes phosphatidylserine in the form of liposomes & 1-acyl-2 lysophosphatidylserine, but not triolein, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidic acid or phosphatidylinositol
- isoform 2 hydrolyzes 1-acyl-2 lysophosphatidylserine but not phosphatidylserine
- hydrolysis of 1-acyl-2 lysophosphatidylserine peritoneal mast cells activated by receptors for IgE leads to stimulate histamine production
Structure
- belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily, lipase family
Compartment
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=3
Expression
- widely expressed
- expressed in placenta, prostate & liver
- weakly or not expressed in skin, leukocytes, platelets, colon, spleen, lung, muscle & kidney
