Function
- binds specifically to phosphatidylinositol-3,4-diphosphate (Ptdins(3,4)P2), but not to other phosphoinositides
- may recruit other proteins to the plasma membrane
- interacts with MPDZ & PTPN13
Structure
- binds to membranes enriched in Ptdins(3,4)P2 via the C-terminal PH domain
- contains 2 PH domains
Compartment
- cytoplasm
- plasma membrane
- nucleus
- locates to the plasma membrane after treatments that stimulate production of Ptdins(3,4)P2
Expression
- highly expressed in skeletal muscle, thymus, pancreas, placenta & lung
- detected at low levels in brain, heart, testis, ovary, peripheral blood leukocytes, spinal cord, thyroid, kidney, liver, small intestine & colon
