Function
- component of VLDL
- activator of several triacylglycerol lipases
- association of APOC2 with plasma chylomicrons, VLDL, & HDL is reversible, a function of the secretion & catabolism of triglyceride-rich lipoproteins, & changes rapidly
- inhibits binding of VLDL & chylomicrons to hepatic receptors thus targeting them for extrahepatic clearance
Structure
belongs to the apolipoprotein C2 family
Compartment
Expression
Pathology
- defects in APOC2 are the cause of hyperlipoproteinemia type 1B
