Introduction

The process of breaking down complex biomolecules into simpler ones. For example, the breaking down of glycogen into CO2 + H2O. Catabolism is generally accompanied by release of energy in the form of ATP.

A quantitative assessment of catabolism can be measured via calorimetry.
