Introduction
Glycogen is a 1-4 million dalton polysaccharide composed of glucose units in 1,4 and 1,6 glycosidic linkage. The 1,6 bonds produce branches at intervals of approximately 10 glucose units.
Staining properties:
- stains reddish brown with iodine-stained wet mounts
- generally dissolved with aqueous fixatives
