Introduction

An electromyograph (EMG) technique measuring the time required for a stimulus to propagate orthodromically up group 1A sensory fibers to the spinal cord, through a monosynaptic connection with an alpha motor neuron, the return orthodromically down the alpha motor neuron.

In connection with the F-response, recognition of abnormal conduction velocity in peripheral neuropathy is 80-90%. Conduction block in proximal nerve segments in inflammatory or demyelinating neuropathies may also be demonstrated.
