• sensory fibers carry sensory information from the periphery to the brain

Structure

• one of many nerve fibers often traveling with motor fibers in a peripheral nerve
• the sensory nerve fibers are projections of bipolar neurons with cell bodies outside of the central nervous system in dorsal root ganglia
• afferent projections of the bipolar neurons synapse in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord
