Function
- RNA helicase
- mRNA degradation
- mRNA decapping
- forms a complex with DCP1A, DCP2, YJDC & RCD8
- phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR
Structure
- belongs to the DEAD box helicase family, DDX6/DHH1 subfamily
- contains 1 helicase ATP-binding domain
- contains 1 helicase C-terminal domain
Compartment
cytoplasm, processing bodies
Expression
abundantly expressed in most tissues
Pathology
- chromosomal aberration involving DDX6 may be a cause of B-cell lymphomas, t(11;14)(q23;q32)
