• unstable protein, may be degraded by the proteasome
• expressed in testis, ovary, fetal liver & skin

Evolution

• APOBEC3H from old world monkeys has retained its antiviral activity, while it is lost in other primates
• 1 of 7 related genes or pseudogenes found in a cluster, thought to result from gene duplication, on chromosome 22
