gamma-chain disease

Introduction

Encountered most often in the elderly. Resembles a malignant lymphoma rather than multiple myeleoma. Manifestations consist of lymphadenopathy, anemia, fever, & often hepatosplenomegaly. Lytic bone lesions are not present. The disease course is variable, from death in a few months to several years.
