Etiology
Laboratory
- urine protein: proteinuria
- serum creatinine may be elevated
Management
- ACE inhibitors or angiotensin receptor antagonist
- lower intraglomerular pressure
- decrease proteinuria, especially in diabetics
- Ca+2 channel blockers, diltiazem & verapamil preferable to dihydropyridines
- target blood pressure
- < 139/80 for chronic renal insufficiency
- < 125/75 for proteinuria > 1 g/day
