Introduction

Air in the urine may occur secondary to colovesicular fistula.

Laboratory

• oral ingestion of:
  • charcoal: look for charcoal in the urine
  • methylene blue: look for methylene blue in the urine
  • pyridium: look for pyridium in the stool
    • pyridium is absorbed, excreted in the urine & will traverse a fistula to appear in the stool
