- volvulus
- diverticulitis generally causes only partial obstruction
- inflammatory bowel disease
- benign tumors
- fecal impactation
- barium impactation
- Hirschsprung's disease
Clinical manifestations

- vomiting is rare
Laboratory

- colonoscopy if diagnosis is in doubt & abdomen is non-surgical
Management

- endoscopy
- dilation & decompression
- laser fulguration
- detorsion of volvulus
