pulmonic valve heart sound (P2)

Introduction

Pulmonic component of 2nd heart sound (S2), or P2, reflecting closure of the pulmonic valve which normally follows A2 (closure of aortic valve).

Loud P2: pulmonary arterial hypertension, pulmonary embolism

Soft P2: pulmonic stenosis, heavily calcified valve
