Introduction
Inflammation/infection of the glans penis.
Etiology
- generally related to poor hygiene in uncircumcized men
- Candida
- associated disorders:
- harsh soaps or prolonged contact with soap after bathing
- uncontrolled diabetes
- dapagliflozin & presumably other flozins related to glucosuria[4]
Clinical manifestations
- circinate balanitis: shallow, moist, serpinginous ulcers with raised borders
- may be painful
- may be foul-smelling
Laboratory
- urinalysis may show pyuria
