Introduction
Ingestion of ergot drugs or rye or wheat infected with the fungus Claviceps purpurea.
Clinical manifestations
- colic
- diarrhea
- cramp of the extremities
- paresthesias
- pruritus
- convulsions
- headache
- drowsiness
- nausea/vomiting
- gangrene
