Introduction
Hemoglobin in the urine.
Etiology
- intravascular hemolysis due to
- hemolytic transfusion reaction (mismatched blood)
- mechanical heart valve
- paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH)
- cold hemoglobinuria
- malarial hemoglobinuria
- march hemoglobinuria
Laboratory
- urine color: pink to red
- hemoglobin in urine
Differential diagnosis
- hematuria
- erythrocytes will sediment if centrifuged
- myoglobinuria
- serum creatine kinase elevated
