Introduction
bony protrusion on the palate
Etiology
- idiopathic
- may be due to local stress factors
Epidemiology
- more common than torus mandibularis
- more common in Asian & Inuit populations
- 2-fole more common in females than males
- prevalence is 20-35% in the United States
- prevalence is similar in blacks & whites
Pathology
- benign condition
Genetics
- may be autosomal dominant
Clinical manifestations
- usually present midline on the hard palate
- most < 2 cm in diameter
- size & lobulation can change throughout life
Management
- reassurance, this is a benign condition
