hyphema (anterior chamber hemorrhage)

Introduction

• blood in anterior chamber of eye
• a collection of blood between the cornea & iris

Clinical manifestations

• blood covers part of the iris & occasionally the pupil

Differential diagnosis

• post-traumatic iritis
  • may develop 2-3 days after injury
  • eye pain, photophobia, blurry vision, miosis
