Function
- role in cell cycle progression & cytokinesis
- during the late steps of cytokinesis, anchors exocyst & SNARE complexes at the midbody, thereby allowing secretory vesicle-mediated abscission
- interacts with HOOK2 (putative)
- interacts with EXOC6 & SNAPAP
- associates with the exocyst complex
Structure
contains 21 LRR repeats (leucine-rich repeats)
Compartment
- centrosome
- during cytokinesis, localizes to a ring-like structure at the central midbody
Alternative splicing
named isoforms=5
Expression
highly expressed in testis & trachea
Pathology
- chromosomal translocation t(8;9)(p12;q33) involving CEP110 with FGFR1 may be a cause of stem cell myeloproliferative disorder
- the fusion protein CEP110-FGFR1 is found in the cytoplasm, exhibits constitutive kinase activity & may be responsible for the transforming activity
