Etiology
- embolic occlusion of the posterior branches of the middle cerebral artery
Pathology
- lesion of the upper bank of the sylvian fissure or inferior parietal lobe
Clinical manifestations
- fluent speech, paraphasia
- difficulty in repetition of speech
- difficulty in reading aloud
- patient aware of deficit
- adequate comprehension of written & spoken words
- associated manifestations
- naming: usually abnormal
- writing: abnormal
