Etiology

• systemic hypotension or hypoxia
• cardiac arrest

Pathology

• ischemic infarction in watershed areas between anterior, middle, & posterior cerebral arteries

Clinical manifestations

• parrot-like speech
• echolalia
• associated manifestations
  • decreased alertness & responsiveness
  • bilateral leg weakness
