Epidemiology

• white, middle-aged, overweight, hard-working men

Pathology

• no increase in erythrocyte mass
• relative dehydration

Clinical manifestations

• hypertension
• anxiety
• florid appearance
• NO splenomegaly

Laboratory

• complete blood count (CBC)
  • NO leukocytosis
  • hematocrit increased (50-60%)
