myeloperoxidase deficiency

Pathology

• absent myeloperoxidase due to pre- & post-translational defects

Genetics

• autosomal recessive
• associated with defects in myeloperoxidase

Clinical manifestations

• clinically normal except in patients with underlying disease especially diabetes
  • disseminated candidiasis or other fungal infection

Laboratory

• absent peroxidase in neutrophils
