Epidemiology
- young adults
- occurs in winter & fall
- due to virus carried by common house mouse
Laboratory
- detection of LCMV nucleic acids in the CSF during the acute stage (1st 2 weeks(
- ELISA) for LCMV available only at Centers for Disease Control & Prevention
- serologic testing by commercial laboratories has a lower sensitivity than ELISA for the detection of LCMV.
