Introduction
Study characteristics: 1094 African Americans with reduced creatinine clearance & hypertension
Groups:
- 2 blood pressure* goals:
- metoprolol, ramipril, or amlodipine
Results:
- risk of developing diabetes significantly lower with ramipril than with metoprolol or amolodipine (RR=0.53)
- group with lower blood pressure goal more likely to develop diabetes
