Indications
- used sequentially with hCG to induce ovulation & pregnancy
- in infertile women with functional amenorrhea
- used with hCG to stimulate spermatogenesis in men with primary hypogonadotropic hypogonadism
- hair follicle stimulation[1]
Contraindications
Injection:
- follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) 75 units luteinizing hormone (LH) 75 units / 2 mL ampule
- follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) 150 units luteinizing hormone (LH) 150 units / 2 mL ampule
Adverse effects
Male:
- common (> 10%)
- less common (1-10%)
Female:
- common (> 10%)
- ovarian enlargement, abdominal distension, pain/rash at injection site
- less common (1-10%)
- uncommon (< 1%)
- thromboembolism, pain, febrile reactions
