Indications
- single-anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass used in conjunction with sleeve gastrectomy for bariatric surgery for obesity
Notes
- greater weight loss than Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB)
- early surgical complications (<30 days) more common than RYGB (6% vs 2%)
- late surgical complications (>30 days) more common with RYGB (10% vs 2%)
- reoperations & severe complications similarnto RYGB
- diarrhea & GERD 2-3 times more common than with RYGB
- nutritional deficiencies similar to RYGB
- no differences in remissions of type 2 diabetes or chronic hypertension
