Introduction
A 70% helium, 30% oxygen mixture for ventilation. Administered by a non-rebreather face mask.
Indications
- asthma, may be used with albuterol[2]
- bronchiolitis
Adverse effects
none reported
Mechanism of action
- improves laminar airflow
- may decrease work of breathing in patients with increased airway resistance
