Indications
- evaluation of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Procedure
- criterion 1
- criterion 2
- feature A (5/12 must be present)
- unusually soft or velvety skin
- mild skin hyperextensibility
- unexplained striae distensae or rubae*
- bilateral piezogenic papules of the heel
- recurrent or multiple abdominal hernia(s)
- atrophic scarring involving at least 2 sites*
- pelvic floor, rectal, and/or uterine prolapse*
- dental crowding and high or narrow palate
- arachnodactyly*
- arm span-to-height ratio >= 1.05
- mitral valve prolapse >= mild
- aortic root dilatation*
- feature B positive family history (>= 1 1st degree relative)
- feature C recurrent joint dislocations in absence of trauma
- feature A (5/12 must be present)
- criterion 3
- absence of unusual skin fragility
- exclusion of genetic disease, autoimmune disease or connective tissue disease
- exclusion of alternative diagnoses
