Indications
- investigational evaluation of early Alzheimer's disease
Clinical significance
- Fastball EEG detects significantly impaired recognition memory in Alzheimer's disease compared to healthy older adults
Procedure
- EEG method for passive & objective measurement of recognition memory
- requires no behavioural memory response or comprehension of the task
- task completed in < 3 minutes
- subjects passively view rapidly presented images
- Fastball EEG assesses their automatic ability to differentiate between images based on previous exposure (old vs new)
- subjects are not instructed to attend to previously seen images & provide no behavioural response
