Indications

• treatment of narcolepsy*

* only nonscheduled treatment option FDA-approved for adult patients with narcolepsy

Contraindications

• severe liver disease or ESRD
  • risk of QT prolongation

Dosage

• QAM upon awakening

Adverse effects

• insomnia (6%)
• nausea (6%)
• anxiety (5%).

Mechanism of action

• increases synthesis & release of histamine, a wake-promoting neurotransmitter in the brain
