Etiology
Epidemiology
- 11% of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus
Pathology
- non-infectious thrombotic endocarditis
- large verrucous lesions near the edge of the mitral valve (most common)
- lesions consist of immune complexes. mononuclear cells, & fibrin & platelet thrombi
Clinical manifestations
- generally asymptomatic
