mitral valve

Introduction

Normally bicuspid valve gating flow between the left atrium & left ventricle. The valve opens during diastole & closes during systole. Mitral valve shows an early opening (E point), closing & re-opening with left atrial kick (A point).

Normal area: 4-6 cm2

Normal gradient: 0-2 mm Hg
