Indications

• reusable vaginal ring contraceptive

Adverse effects

• boxed warning: risk for serious cardiovascular events in smokers

Procedure

• placed in the vagina for 3 weeks
• removed for 1 week during which time a woman may menstruate
• during the off week, the ring is washed & stored in a case

Complications

• 2-4% of women using Annovera may get pregnant in the 1st year
